What does "end-to-end test" mean in programming?

end-to-end test is one of the most common terms in software development. This guide explains what it means, how it is used in practice, and why it matters, with real examples from the developer world.

Definition

A test that simulates real user behavior from start to finish through the entire system: UI, API, and database. End-to-end tests catch bugs that unit and integration tests miss but are slower to run.

Example

"The end-to-end test opens the browser, logs in, and verifies the dashboard loads correctly."
