contest
"To contest" means to challenge or dispute, not to answer. For the Spanish "contestar" (to answer) use "answer", "reply", or "respond" in English.
contest
As a verb: to formally challenge or dispute something. As a noun: a competition.
The common mistake: "Contestar" en español significa responder o dar una respuesta. "To contest" en inglés significa desafiar o cuestionar algo, no responder. Si dices "I will contest your message" en una reunión sonarás como si quisieras disputar lo que dijeron, no responder.
"The developer decided to contest the code review comment because the suggested approach had worse performance."
