assist vs attend
"Assist" means to help. "Attend" means to be present at a meeting or event. When you say "I will assist the standup," you are saying you will help the standup, not that you will be there.
assist
Means "to help" or "to support someone." It has nothing to do with being present at an event.
The common mistake: "Asistir" en español significa ir a un lugar o evento, pero "assist" en inglés significa ayudar. Son falsos amigos directos.
"Can you assist me with this PR? I'm not sure how to handle the edge case."
attend
Means "to be present at" an event, meeting, or class. This is the word you need for the Spanish "asistir."
"I won't be able to attend the sprint review — I have a conflict at 3pm."
