What does "RBAC" mean in programming?
RBAC is one of the most common terms in software development. This guide explains what it means, how it is used in practice, and why it matters, with real examples from the developer world.
Definition
Role-Based Access Control. A method of restricting what users can do based on their role, rather than granting permissions to individual users. Roles (admin, editor, viewer) are assigned permissions, and users are assigned roles. RBAC makes permissions easier to manage at scale.
