What does "ETA" mean in programming?

ETA is one of the most common terms in software development. This guide explains what it means, how it is used in practice, and why it matters, with real examples from the developer world.

Definition

Estimated Time of Arrival. In software teams, ETA refers to when a task, feature, or fix is expected to be done. Asking for an ETA is asking for a time estimate, not an exact commitment.

Example

"What is the ETA on the auth bug fix? The customer is waiting."
